Autism CARES Act: A Major Investment in Autism Research

The Autism CARES Act (H.R. 1058) is a bill that was introduced in the US Congress on July 17, 2019. The bill would provide $1 billion over five years for research into the causes and treatment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The bill was introduced by Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. Smith has been a longtime advocate for people with autism and their families.
